smell

I just got a new apartment. problem is the person before me didn't take good care of it and they can't get rid of the smell. it REAKS.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the smell?

Clean carpets, wash walls, open windows if possible.

Get those carpets cleaned!!

Yankee candle good air. It removes the smell instead of covering it up. They have different scents and they are about $10-$20 depending on the size you get.

What does it smell like?

Pets? Smoke? Food? Just....... gross?

depends on what the smell is, but washing the walls with vinegar helps and shampooing carpets.

What I would do is wipe the walls down with ammonia...if you dont want to do that then get the mop liquid( I use Mr, Clean Meadows and Rain) and wipe down everything..forgot you have to deliute the mop liquid stuff. If you want a natural house freshner take some orange peels and add some vanilla with water and boil them until the place smells nice.

they already shampooed the carpets

Whenever it gets stinky in here (small apartment, DH is learning how to cook) we boil some orange peels, vanilla pods, cinnamon sticks and cloves in a small pot of water on the stove. It even makes the hallway of the building smell nice when the old man in the apartment next door makes his stew on the weekends!

if it smells like food, it maybe coming from your garbage disposal/sink. try pouring bleach down your drains
