Shingles

Hi I'm 35.5 weeks and today I was diagnosed with shingles, my doctor put me on 7 days worth of Valtrex. Anyone else have this issue of shingles in late pregnancy?

All I can say is ouch and poor you! Shingles hurt so bad.

Aww it's ok, I am just very scared that the baby might get it  

Did the docs say anything about the baby getting it? I would be scared to!

They said normally if it is caught within the first 3 days after the outbreak, the medication given should take care of it, but since I am on day 5 since the outbreak, they aren't sure if the medication will do   If he's born anytime soon, he has a chance of getting it

What are shingles?

Once you have had chicken pox the virus still stays in your system so at any time in your life you can get shingles.

my four year old just had shingles very painful.
. my MIL had them when she was 7 months preg with her 2nd. baby didnt get them, and hes only just had them couple years ago when he was 30.

i had them at 35 weeks also 
Baby wont get them. I still had them at 36w6d when i delivered. We wrapped under my breast and back in a bandage so baby wasnt exposed to them!

You are the first person I've come across with experience with this so late in pregnancy! Thank you so much for your story! It's such a huge relief to hear someone went through it and baby was fine, that's all I'm worried about! I have it in a small patch on my lower back, so happy to know if I happen to go into labor they can just wrap it up!

you are so lucky it was a small patch! I had a huge patch right under my breast and a huge patch on my back. I couldnt wear a bra because i was in so much pain, but my breast resting on it hurt also.
