Drinks for ten month old

posted 20th Nov
DD is 10 months old and loves to have water in her sippy. The thing is I'm not sure how much water is too much. She usually has somewhere from 5-9 ounces a day, is that too much? Also are there any other liquids I can give her at 10 months?

Juice is just full of calories and sugar they dont need. Water and formula/breastmilk is all they need.

I give little man water mixed with juice. A little bit more water than juice, though.

Yep, juice. I gave my LO juice in his sippy at around 7 months. I always mixed it like 3/4 water to 1/4 juice. Now hes 23 months and if i give him juice its mixed half and half. But he drinks alot of sugar free flavored water too

Water and milk (whether breast or formula) is all they need. Juice is empty calories and pack full of sugar

I'm not big on juice, especially not at this young.

Personally I don't give DS juice. They don't need it and it's basically just sugar and calories. I've given him juice one time and that was only so he would take the Tylenol for his fever. Other than breastmilk, I give him water once in a while just to change it up. But really they don't NEED water either. Breast milk and formula have all the water they need before a year old.

I do water and milk mostly, but like once a week I'll give her a little sippy with 3 parts water and 1 part juice.

They make juice especially for babies that's already watered down and I think is sugar free. I could be wrong there, though. We have to give our son juice or he won't poop right. Milk makes him constipated. Not so bad anymore, but it did when he was younger and he was on a medication for it which I hated so we started buying him baby prune apple juice and it worked way better than the medicine he was on and it didn't smell like nasty liquorish. His doctor said 4 ounces of juice at 10 months once a day was fine. Anyway, I don't know that you could give too much water. As long as she's still getting the amount of milk she needs to grow I wouldn't worry about it.

Actually you can give too much water. If it is affecting the amount she is drinking milk and eating it is too much. And there is water toxicity

That's why I said as long as she was still getting the amount of milk she needed. I just know my son's doctor says it's very rare that a child will want to drink enough water to hurt themselves. We asked about it and he said he didn't need it but if he wanted it there was no issue giving him some as long as it wasn't replacing any of his milk consumption.
