medical exam on a 5 year old for sexual abuse

My daughter is being scheduled to have a medical exam. We're going through a CPS investigation where there are claims of sexual misconduct, and they've seen reason that they need to do one.

Can someone tell me what's going to happen to my daughter, how they're going to do it and how to prepare myself and her, if need be, for this. I am worried how this is going to affect her, both physically and mentally.

Most of the time, they will sedate her so she doesn't really remember the examination.

Where did you hear that?!? Not true.

Op from what I've seen working as a student nurse in emergency and community health it's fairly simple. Through physical exam of the body. Bum (will gently spread cheeks to look for cuts etc) same with vagina.

So it probably won't be like a full on pelvic exam?

I am stressing about this, and the appointment hasn't even been scheduled yet.

Oh heavens no no no. There is enough evidence of penetration without a full speculum pelvic exam. It's not that invasive.

Without going into too much detail, because it's a very long story...we know there has been penetration. My daughter told the forensic investigator that there has been. She told them she's penetrated with a toy, we just don't know about anything else...

they may do a pelvic if that is the case, since she has been penetrated and it may not have been with only a toy. so sorry you all are going through this.

U gh that's just awful. Sick sick people out there. Please PM me if you want to talk. I have been a child advocate for several emergency exams. Tell your baby the worst is over. Everyone else are good people and are going to help you guys. Even if they do a pelvic the specs are tiny. With gentle hands and distraction she won't even feel it
