I agree with the woman that it is medical negligence if in fact it can be proven that the test should have shown positive.

Do they have nationalized healthcare or maybe she had an HMO and couldn't?

She could have sought a second or even third opinion. Especially being a nurse she must have been surrounded by doctors at work and could have at least talked to one about her symptoms? That's unfortunate but if she suspected it why wait?

I'm confused...she is suing because the doctor didn't investigate the cancer in the OTHER parts of her body, correct? Because he treated the breast cancer, hence the mastectomy. Did I read that right?

1.) Not all insurances will cover a second opinon
2.) She could be a nurse for a foot doctor, or at a nursing home, not necessarily surrounded by doctors she wants feeling her breasts
3.) Even if she did go to another doctor her insurance would probably not have covered re-testing.

Poor woman. Why is she sueing the govt though? Shouldnt she be sueing her doctor/hospital? Am I missing something? I agree the doctors should've done more, and she has the right to sue if thats how she wants to handle it.

From what I can see, she thought she had breast cancer, went to the doc, and he waived her off. Then in 3 months they found it but found out it had spread during that time.

But.... how do they know it hadnt already spread by her first visit?

No. The dr told her she didn't have breast cancer. A few months later she went back and they said she did. Then had a mastectomy.

That would explain the 3 month wait and inability to see other doctors, correct?

THIS is why I fear Obamacare.. juss sayin.

I don't know about you but I'd find the money and pay out of pocket to get another opinion if I had to, if I suspected breast cancer.

Or at least push the issue harder with my own GP.
