Anyone going through this or has been through this?

posted 20th Nov
I'm 17 years old and I was told that my baby girl would have down syndrome so I had an amio. and it came back positive. Now I'm 28 weeks and 2 days and the placenta is making it harder for her to push blood through her body and yesterday they did measurements on her again and she didn't grow as much as she should have in two weeks. I guess the placenta is letting her grow. I have a BPP twice a day and he said if that starts looking bad, then they'll have to deliver me early.

Just wondering how they could tell she'd have down syndrome before they did the amnio? Sorry no help, best of luck to you.

There are markers on ultrasound that they look for.

They have tests like the nuchal translucency test, that check for soft markers for downs, if it comes back positive you are sent to a genetic specialist and given the option of an amnio.

I didn't but my cousin has downs. She was born at 32 weeks due to IUGR. She spent 12 weeks in the NICU but she's 10 now and healthy. She's low-functioning though.
