preparing for second baby !

so i found out i was pregnant with my second baby about 2 weeks ago now, and i was thinking if i could just move my daughter to a toddler bed rather then buying another crib ? and let the new baby use the crib ? my daughter will be almost 2 when the new baby comes . I looked it up online and it says you can move your baby to a toddler bed between 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 years .. best to move the baby BEFORE they start climbing out of the crib . Just need some opinions on this ? i think its a great idea honestly and a good way to save money rather then to buy another crib ! thank you ( :

We got my LO a toddler bed like 3m ago (she's 17m now and our baby is due Sunday) and she started cosleeping with us instead lol.. so I'm no help.

Do invest.. we need to get one as well and add it to her bed. The cpl times she's slept in it she's tossed out..

i would, logan started climbing out of his crib at two ha.
no need in having two cribs when one will only be used for a couple months. now that you have some notice maybe you can buy a toddler bed and get her used to it, see how she does before the baby comes.

My DD is 18 months now and we bought her a toddler bed a couple months ago. She won't nap in it yet, but she sleeps perfectly fine in it at night. One night I tried to let her stay up later and play and she got so tired she just crawled into bed and fell asleep. Anywho, she loves it and it will be great when our new LO arrives!

You've got 9 months to transition her, maybe more if you use a bassinet for baby #2 for a few months. I say go for it.

I would start now, although i have a crib that converts to a toddler then a full, so i will be buying another. But if ahe has a baby doll, maybe tell her to start putting it in the crib, and tell her thats babys bed, and thw tosdler one is hers. Act like its a real baby, so she gets into it, putting it to bed every night and tucking it in, and getting it out in the mornings.

We were moving into a new house so decided to switch him then. He was 18 months and did FANTASTIC!!

thank you ladies ! your really making me feel better about my decision ( : my mom says its a bad idea , i think its a good idea, the sooner the better. shes going to be in a bed sooner or later.

you will both do great! my son is 100% crazy. He runs and runs and runs from 7 am until we put him in bed at night (ppl actually ask me as a joke if hes like that all the time...and he really is lol)...so when he realized he had freedom to get out of bed when he wanted, he took full advantage. It took about a week of the Supernanny technique of only tucking him in once and then the first time he comes out we explained that it was bedtime etc and if he came out anymore we just pick him up without saying a word and put him back in bed. Sometimes it lasted over an hour but after about a week he was perfect and never came out. Now during the day he tells me "I Sleep" and he takes his blankie and puts himself for naps lol. Also, we didn't put him in a toddler bed, we just moved him into a single. We bought him one that has a trundle (pull out bed underneath) and as of this week it has been the best purchase i've ever made. He has croup at the moment and 2 nights I needed to sleep in his room to monitor him quite closely. At 26 weeks pregnant, I was thankful for that bed hahahaha. sorry this was so long!

I moved my son to a big boy bed just before he turned 2.....would have done i before but it took over a mth to get his bed come in that I had ordered. Just make sure you have a bed rail or something on it! You could also just get a cheap toddler bed but you are prob better off just going for a twin bed or whatever.

I am in a similar situation so I've decided to encourage DS to transition from bed to crib now (he'll be a year Saturday) and then crib to toddler bed when the baby can no longer fit in their Moses basket  

I have a feeling that everything I have typed will be a lot harder than it sounds.
