DS weighs 35 pounds and will be 3 in April. His car seat strapps aer getting a little small and personally I think its time to switch him to a booster seat. Should I go ahead and switch him or wait until his 3rd birthday. I've gotten two different opinions on this from my parents so I need a little more input! Thanks everyone!!

Get a new seat there is no reason for a 3 year old to be in a booster.

I'd get a 5pt harness that can be switched into a booster seat and keep him in the harness longer.

The law is 4 years old and 40 lbs

a 3 year old shouldn't ne in a booster for any reason

35lbs isn't a lot compared to the weight maximum but you could get a booster with a 5pt harness

I just looked up state law for Arkansas its 4 years and 40lbs to be in a booster so it isnt even legal.

OP My daughter is 3 and weighs about 30 lbs. We just got her this...minus the gift card. lol

But it's either keep him in the carseat or buy a booster seat. A 5 point harness car seat is a lot out of our price range. But thank you for all your input!!

What's the weight and height for your carseat? If he is too big for it, it's not safe to keep him in it.

I think it's a 40 pound car seat. But he is really tall for a 2 and a half year old. He looks like he's 4 lol. I'm not totally sure what the height and weight it because I didn't buy it and it's currently not here. Its in MIL car

Getting a booster seat at Wal Mart for $30 is pushing it... So pretty much none.... But we have a thing called Rhea Lanna's that comes through about every 6 months and they should be back around DS 3rd birthday so I was going to get one from there or ask for one for Christmas or use Christmas money for it.

First thing you need to do is figure out what seat he is in and what the limits are because if he has outgrown that seat its not safe either. Do you have any family that can help you out? Friends that can loan you money? Things you can sell?
