It could just be stretching pains. Contractions are timeable and consistent and your tummy will harden along with them plus lower back pain will accompany them sometimes. Just random sharp pains aren't contractions.

They do seem consistent

sounds like normal pregnancy stuff. a contraction is like an intense menstrul cramp that starts slow and builds to a peak, then comes back down, just like a hill, how it looks on paper is pretty much how it is felt. and nothing quick about em, lol, they feel like forever, (by forever i mean 40-90 seconds, lol) and are consistant and timable. hang in there love.

Consistent as in you can literally time them. Like they come every 10 mins. And like the poster above me said, they start gradually, build up, peak, and then fade. Your whole tummy tightens. Sharp vaginal pains sound like stretching pains to me or just random pregnancy pain. It happens.

Been to the doctor to find out because I had the same issue with my second pregnancy (weird enough I didn't experience pain with my first) she said my ligaments are stretching and its my body preparing for labor. I get the sharp pains even when laying in bed on my back. with my this second pregnancy Ive had preterm labor so I am constantly calling my doctor to ask questions.

Same here. I have the sharp pains mostly at night. My doctor said its stretching and that you may not feel it with your first, but with each pregnancy afterwards you can feel it more.

I had the same pains down there, and just went to my OB today.
He said it's Braxton Hicks.. They usually only last for 30 mins, or shorter.
I had the pains for only 20 mins, but every 2 mins! It sucked

It think the best way to find out for sure is asking your doctor if your still very ify about it. I had pre term labor at 25 weeks I would feel pain on mylower back and my stocamch would get hard and my lower front would get tight that i couldn't walk.. contractions I got sent to the ER for per term labor. now I get sharp pains on my lower back even if iam laying down and some pain in my stomach at this point I am just taking as Braxton Hicks contrations and my doctor said make sure I drink a lot of water because it helps out and it does

You can always call your Labor/delivery department and they will help you out, I usually do that with my kids or in an emergency case of the pregnancy. I call the ER to get transfered to the Labor/Delivery Department.
