when to take maternity leave

So i am deciding when to take maternity leave. I think right up until i can't anymore but SO is saying January 1 because he's worried and wants me home. Even told my daughters daycare that she will not be coming back in January. So now im sort of in a pickle. Should i just take that time before baby and get ready and spend time with my almost 4 year old before baby comes? Or try to stay at work.
Ps. Money is not an issue. I don't have to be working i just wanted to  

How much time do you get. I mean if you only get 6 weeks off and you leave 5 weeks before you're due it could be an issue. If you don't need to be working and would like some extra time with your daughter maybe take off around 38 weeks.

i would try to stay a little longer, idk how long maternity leave is but you dont want to have to go back too soon after baby is born.

I get a year off

i mean if money isnt an issue and you have more then 6-8 weeks of leave i say stay take the leave. but if you only have 6 weeks i would wait. my sister in law saved up all her time (vacation and maternity) and then took her leave the day she went into labor. she got to stay home for almost 5 months with her son

I missed where you were from.
Then go for it and take the time off. if money isnt an issue and you have a year off

If money's not an issue, once you use your disability you can use FMLA to get up to 12 weeks I think...you don't get paid for it, but it will guarantee that they hold your job for you.

Oh. I just saw that you live in Canada too...haha in that case relax and take it easy

Preschool. She goes two days a week still instead of 4 since i quit my job. Id keep her home with me all the tome except she LOVES going. It gives me a little break, too. Shes 4.
