re: For stay at home moms...

Honestly, I can see why people would think that way.
I think that way a TINY little bit too. I'm in college but I still feel like I'm not doing "enough." Well, that's why I'm in college, so I can be a WAHM when DD is born and not just a SAHM. I wouldn't feel good about myself if I wasn't doing "more."

Thanks alot ladies, you have all been a bunch of help! I guess i need to work on not letting it get to me. Some people are never going to understand how much work goes into being a sah mom (which is sad because its also very rewarding). And you are right, I dont need to explain myself to anyone, I know what I do and that should be enough. Thanks again!

I say, "suck my dick, I'm not here to please you" and walk away.

Not really, but in my head I do. I don't care what people think or say about it. They don't know my life.

I dont consider being a SAHM my job its my responsibility I had my child and the costs involved with childcare meant it wasnt worth me returning to work. however the work I do now as a SAHM is much more demanding than any job I have had but its all made worthwhile seeing my son grow and develop. what other people percieve doesn't bother me especially since my son was in creche a few weeks ago and they were talking jobs he said his daddy was an engineer and when they asked him what mummy did he reeled off a list so long it was unbelieveable made me realise that I dont do "nothing" like other people often say and tbh I sometimes feel

I find this post to be just as rude as the nurse in OP's post. Maybe I'm reading it in a different tone, but not all WMs work just because of money... it's about survival, lifestyles... I mean, give me a break, not everyone's SO/DH has an awesome paying job and not everyone has an SO/DH.

I don't know what it's like to be a SAHM, I've never had that blessing of trying it. After my divorce, it took a while to learn how to properly handle all the tasks of being a single mother with a 2 year old.

Now that my son is 5, I have a new challenge of learning how to help my son with homework while still cooking, cleaning and what not and still trying to work out and find some time for me. But I don't know if I could handle being a SAHM. I was off work for 4 days because of Hurricane Sandy and I was going stir crazy. Then again, I've forgotten what it's like to take care of a baby that needs constant attention/supervision.

I don't think she was talking about all working moms, but just talking about the nurses who made suggestive comments to her, and maybe WHY they said what they said the way that they did.

Yeah, that's why I said it might have been written in a different tone than what I read, but it rubbed me the wrong way!

I'm a SAHM to my 8-month-old son and 5-year-old stepson. I also take care of my 6-year-old godson during the week. My SO only makes enough money for us to get by but it would cost over 400/week to put them both in daycare and if I were working full time I would be lucky to be bringing home 300/week so it's not worth it for us. I'm happy that I get to be there fire all the firsts and I get to be home to take care of them when they're sick but I would love to go back to work. My day is an endless stream of screaming kids, poopy diapers, laundry, dishes, cleaning, and very little adult interaction. I love my kids but boy are they stressful

I have an awesome job! I work just in the mornings basically and have the same days off as school kids. SO is a SAHD and is working on opening his own Karate gym which would only be in the afternoons.
