I agree! I made my little brother play dress up with me too. I even caught him once wearing one of my long hippie skirts in high school. I asked him what he was doing and he said he wanted to see it spin around when he twirled like when I do it. I was like "Oook, go for it," lol.
He ended up very masculine and straight. He married his wife last year.

My son is the same way - he likes "girl" things as much as he does boy - it annoys the crap out of me when I see that kind of mentality! Seriously - who gives a smurf if he likes things that are "feminine". Those things are only for "girls" because we tell them it's for girls, if we didn't say anything then they wouldn't even notice.

MIL tells me stories about DH when he was younger all the time. He had a girl cousin that he was close in age with and they always played together. She said DH used to pick out bows for her, play dress up with her, and every time they went into a store and he saw a pretty dress, bow or shoes...etc, he would say 'that's pretty...we have to buy it for me and Sandy to play dress up with'   He's the manliest man I know. It embarrasses the smurf out of him when his mom tells me that stuff too, but it's not a big deal.

everyone i know has something to say about chloe playing and liking spider man/ spongebob and toy story over barbies and dolls . 

I'll try to find it when I have time, it's saved on my computer somewhere, but there's actually a few studies that show kids are more likely to be gender confused and such if you shut down that kind of play and force gender roles on them.

The more you allow and even encourage it, the more he'll feel free to be himself

* I remember when chloe got her first pair of toy story shoes, Her god mother, my neighbors, the kids in the neighborhood kept telling her those are boy shoes. At one point she didnt want to wear them anymore but i kept telling her its for boys and girls and she still wears them, esp her spiderman shoes.

Really? Everyone I have ever known (IRL) doesn't care if girls are "tomboys", but boys have to masculine.

DD loves toy cars and playing in the dirt..I don't say anything about it, neither does DH and it would be the same way if we had a boy that liked to play with dolls. Kids will be kids.

already for christmas ive gotten her a lot of spider man & toy story
im only getting her only doll thats shes asked everyone she knows for, and a scooter
my family asked me why i didnt get her more girl things...

I would not let my son do that and certainly wouldnt encourage it. To each their own. I'm lucky my 2 year old is all boy :-)

I don't think there is anything wrong at all. If that's what he likes, then that is what he likes. I'm not saying he won't get teased for it when he starts school and the other boys find out. But he needs to be himself and it's great that you are allowing him to be happy and not the other way around :]

My daughter loves to play with boy toys as well as girl toys. My nephew LOVES my daughter's ponies. This doesn't mean the child is going to be homosexual. And even IF in the future they are gay, what's wrong with that?

Stick with what you're doing. Your little boy will thank you later when he's an adult.

He's watching that new princess movie Sophia the First. He really likes it. That boy hasn't moved since it came on, lol, which is rare!
