Switching to whole milk...

My son will be a year old December 18th! When should I start giving him whole milk? When they switch to whole milk do they not drink any formula anymore? I ask this because I've seen "toddler formula" and I'm wondering when you would give that..I didn't get to ask his pedi any of this at his last appointment..she seemed to be in a hurry..

I gradually introduced whole milk. I'd mix 1/4 whole milk with 3/4 breastmilk, then half and half, then 3/4 whole milk with 1/4 breastmilk. She tolerated it well, and still nursed at bedtime.
ETA: We started at 11.5 months.

i started mixing whole milk with his formula at 11 months. at 12 months i switched him to toddler formula (the gentlease kind, the original made him constipated) And now he drinks mostly milk..i give him the formula when he doesnt eat much (hes a PICKY eater. most of the time i'll make like 2 ounces of formula and them fill the rest with milk

Good question...i'm curious too, DD will be a year on Dec 10th. I have been holding off on buying whole milk because i'm not sure if/when I should mix it.
