CYCLE PROS! Long follicular phase?

posted 20th Nov
Does anyone know about a long follicular phase in PP cycles?
Will it eventually go back to normal? I'm 8 months PP, how long will it take?
I've only had 2 cycles since birth, and I'm now on cd35 for this cycle/14 dpo.
My usual cycles before pregnancy were 30 days. Now I'm late again, and only barely spotting the last 2 days when I do a cervix check.

From all my signs, which were more exaggerated than normal, I ovulated either on cd20 or 22. I'm confused as to which day, because I had ovulation symptoms for a week before they went away.

Does that mean that my body geared up for ovulation, then took a week to decide to do it or not? lol

I've read somewhere that longer follicular phases were due to estrogen problems...

I know I'm over analyzing, but I'm extremely curious as to the workings of my body, and I also am recording everything PP so that next time I can reference back when I have questions.

Thanks for your help!!

Are you BFing? That can make your cycles all wacky if you are still nursing. Other wise, your body can gear up to O and it never releases and egg. It will try again until it does. You may have Oed later than you think you did.

I wouldn't worry about some sort of defect just yet since your cycle isnt regulated so you can see a pattern. I have the opposite problem, a luteal phase defect. Once my periods returned it took them a while for them to get back to normal. I had my first period at 8 months pp. From then to the next af was 40 days and the next was 35 days. Normally I have a 23-25 day cycle. Eventually it went down a few days each cycle. Sometimes it just takes time for things to fall back into place.

Yeah I'm ebfing.
My last cycle was like 76 days long!

So ur saying for example if I don't get my period for another 30 day I could potentially ovulate twice before having my period?
Are both eggs viable even tho I ovulated late?

I've heard that if u ovulate late the egg is considered geriatric and almost nonviable...

No you will only O once. Its rare if you Od a second time but Im sure its happened to someone before. Once you ovulate your body produces progesterone which builds up your lining. At the end of the cycle the follicle that the egg was released from dies decreasing the progesterone and your lining sheds. That wont happen unless your ovary releases an egg.

Your body can gear up to O and fail to release an egg. Idk if you use OPKs but your body will surge LH to get ready to release and egg. Sometimes for whatever reason it doesnt work. Your body will keep having surges of LH until it finally releases an egg. Then its typically 12-15 day average until your period begins. The follicular phase can range greatly between women. The luteal phase is about the same for every one unless you have an issue like I do.

Since you are EBF I wouldnt worry at all. Mine didnt get back to normal until she was weaned. They will keep being all weird until you stop more then likely. I havent ever looked up what you are saying about eggs being non viable if they are late. I would think the egg would be viable, it was just late ovulation. It shouldnt affect the egg any.

Once you get your period count back 14 days and you would have ovulated around then. If that makes it easier.lol
