christmas photos

posted 20th Nov
do any of you NON professionals take pictures at home for christmas??
any of you PROFESSIONALS have any tips for at home photos?
im low on funds for pictures this year and looking at doing them at home for myself.

i have a Nikon d3000 and i KNOW that just having a decent camera doesn't mean you take professional pictures.. i get that.

i just need tips.
how to take photos in front of trees?
good ideas on ways to take pictures?

and any advice you can give me..

I'm not the best at taking pictures either but I do the best I can. I just have a fujifilm digital camera so I like to edit my pictures online to improve their quality. I would LOVE to have a professional camera though & take some photography classes.

Do you know what type of lens you have? I haven't done it yet so I still need to try it out. If you want the background black you would need some type of black material to use as the background. Here is a little something on of the photography mommas told me to try and help me out, I am not sure if you will understand it all.:

Depth of field is caused by several things. Your aperture, your focal length, your distance to the subject, your distance FROM the background. The wider your aperture, the more uniform your circles will be as well. You basically want to shoot at the widest aperture you can while still keeping your subject in focus. The further the lights are from your subject, the better they will blur. A longer focal length will also produce more compression. The closer your lights are together, the better it looks as well. I experimented with it last year and I still only had a cropped frame and I found I could only get decent tight headshots, all the full body shots didn't have enough blur.

And here is something I found on pinterest:

Hmm I am not sure how well your lens would work with the bokeh. I know it can do it but it won't be the best. Are you just a mom witha camera or are you practicing photography? Either way, we have a photography thread and I am sure the ladies in there would be more than happy to help you out. I am still learning so I may not be as much help as the others. You can join us if you would like.
