And, he didn't have a car when we got together.  
He's had a 2011 kawasaki ninja, 2002 celica, 91 civic hatch, 95 huge ass chevy, a 2007 honda CBR 900, and then a 95 hatch that got totaled because of some idiot, in two years.  
He's downgraded a lot. lol. I miss the Streetbikes, but I was pregnant, then we had a baby so we couldn't do that anymore. One of the bikes he got THE DAY I got out of the hospital from having the baby? Like, SERIOUSLY!??! I have a car too, a 2002 taurus, LOL   MOMMY CAR. So, it doesn't entirely matter....but still.

yeahhhhhh, right. he has a HUGE tool box/chest thing. I couldn't get that inside! And, his keys are always in his pocket. He's usually working under the hood, so I couldn't really STOP him from doing that.

I guess i'd get annoyed if my SO was always wanting to do something else which had him avoid me, But at the same time, I wouldn't expect him to spend every waking moment with me, As long as he was being a good partner, good parent (Which it sounds like he is) And providing what he needed to, What's to complain about really?

Maybe try to get involved and be part of the passion? Maybe get him to teach you a thing or two and help him out? Men need hobbies i think, And it seems like a pretty healthy one to me.

Taking his stuff is going to cause a huge fight. I'd suggest something like starting serving meal in his car. Having family dinners out there. Loading the car up with baby's toys so all his "loves" can be together. Just start hanging out.

If he is spending all his time working on his car instead of spending time with his daughter, how is that good parenting? I don't care the reason, you don't ignore your family for a hobby.

I fail to see why she needs to make all the effort when he isn't making it himself. And so what if it causes a smurfing fight. He needs to grow the hell up.
