He doesn't like it...help?

posted 20th Nov
DS really hates sleeping on his back (in the bassinet). He sleeps fine in his bouncy seat, but, I've heard that sleeping in the bouncy seat over and over for long periods of time can be bad for spinal development...?? I don't want to lay him on his side or tummy, because I'm scared he'll suffocate. He's almost a month old. IDK what to do. He wont go to sleep :/ I tried putting him in the bouncy until he fell asleep and then moving him to the bassinet, but that didn't work.

If he'll sleep on his side, you can always try putting those triangle roll stopper things beside him so he won't roll over.

I laid my LO on his side and put a rolled up blanket from his front down just to make sure he didn't roll over. Other then that swaddling worked.

he hates that too, he just kicks and kicks until he makes his way out of it :/ I have one of those too but since he's sleeping in the room with us, I haven't thought to use it lol

My nephew slept in his carsear & carriers because he couldnt get to sleep on his back for the first 3 months of his life. it never hurt him but if you are weary on doing that then maybe swaddling could help

He may have a touch of AR and that would explain why he won't sleep on his back.. it could be painful for him. Get a wedge that goes under the crib mattress or let him sleep in his carseat.. anything that is safe and he can sleep at an incline

My daughter sleeps in her swing. And, she has since about 2 months. Won't sleep anywhere but there, and in my arms (but i don't feel comfortable sleeping with her)
And, her doctor said it's fine, but to try to switch her soon, so she gets used to it when she's too big for her swing. He's NEVER said anything about Spinal Development

Yeah. I didn't think of that. Most babies will cosleep so that could make sense. If he just doesn't like being on his back cause it hurts his tummy then he's not gonna like sleeping anywhere flat

Yes... my son had it terribly bad and would NOT sleep on his back at all.. If you cant get a wedge, roll a crib comforter up like you would when you put away a sleeping bag and put it under the mattress...

You are welcome!   Also, not sure if you bottle feed or breastfeed, but Dr. Brown's bottles work phenomenally for acid reflux!
