Babies sleeping habit

posted 20th Nov
My wife had our baby girl Wednesday and we got to go home Friday. Since we have been home our baby will sleep fine while in our arms or lying on our chest. When we put her in her bassinet she jumps and flings her arms/legs all the time.
She does this almost none stop and it often wakes her up and she cries.
We do not understand what is causing this or if its just normal. Does anyone have feedback on this matter or has similar issues ?

Are you swaddling her tight? Babies need to feel secure as they cant control their arms and legs yet and will startle easy

It's normal. It's a startle reflex. Try swaddling her when you lay her down. It works wonders. And congrats!

You need to swaddle her tight.

Also ts called the fourth trimester or skmething like that. The baby has been used to be swayed and snuggled in mamas womb for 9 mos. she still Needs to be close to you guys. Also for some tips on attachment style parenting and the second gestation go to dr sears website. That might help

Thank you and We have swaddled her but she wiggles lose and gets her arms out all the time. The nurses at the Hospital always said she was feisty and very eager to move about. Also Should she be lying fat on her back cause we have her lying with her boppy to see if that will help ?

It's not really safe to lay her in a boppy to sleep without close supervision. You can try a bouncer or swing if she doesn't wanna be flat and if you guys are completely opposed to cosleeping.

We do let her lye with us at times but don't want to spoil her for when we do move her into her room to her crib. Yes we did consider her swing but didnt know if it was healthy for her back to sleep like that. If i knew me nor my wife would roll over onto her or harm her in our bed as we slept we may try letting her sleep with us till she starts to realize whats going on and get spoiled lol

You can't spoil her daddy. She's a baby and needs to be close. I definitely suggest you and your wife researching dr sears website together   he has lots of good info on attachment parenting, baby wearing, and bed sharing. Good luck. You just have to figure it all out as you go

Aw it's nice to see a Daddy on here

Other than that I agree with the previous poster, research and try the attachment parenting technique, we love it
