re: co-sleeping with more than one?

posted 19th Nov
Personally I would never attemp this. I would put the NB in a bassinet or co sleeper. I can hardly stand having my one 14 mo old sleep with me.

We just got our 2.5 year old to sleep in her own bed, but every now and then she sleeps with all of us, or DH or I sleep in her bed with her. It's a full all to herself, but we put those swim noodles under the fitted sheet to keep her from falling off.

Just curious as to why you are so adamant against putting the Newb in a safer sleeping situation?

ETA: I co-slept, I get wanting to do it, but with two, it seems like a huge gamble and putting to much at risk.

Asher sleeps on the outside. We have a king size bed. He just sprawls out next to me we don't have a rail.

If you bought a bassinet or a pack and play then you would if Ur husband is a heavy sleeper and you have a toddler in bed it's not safe for a newborn

How is two a huge gamble? They will be nowhere near each other.

A crib/bassinet is not "safer" imo.

Are you ever nervous he will fall?

I'm thinking if I can rearrange the room, I can push the open side of thebed against a wall. Then it ca be Anna in the side car, dh when he is home, me, newb.

Why are you so against cribs and bassinets? They way you are making it sound you have no other choice than a bassinet or a crib because it seems like the safest go around.

Then again I've never been for co sleeping and more than likely never will be, my son sleeps in his crib in his OWN room by himself. I think it's good. Being too attached just seems like a bad idea to me. Plus I can hardly sleep good with DH next to me. Let alone a baby, constantly freaking out if i'm going to squish it and so on. Like I said I think you need a bassinet. It seems like the smartest thing to do or start making the old child sleep in her own bed next to you. She is three after all that screams time to start being a bit more independent to my ears.

Thankfully you're opinion means nothing to me.

I've lost one child. I'm not about to put a baby in a crib and stress myself out over SIDS and smurf. Not to mention I will be breastfeeding. We co-sleep, that's how we are most comfortable, and that won't change. You don't have to agree.

I let mine sleep in the bassinet at first, or on my chest part of the night. I only had those options because he was a major surprise when he got here early and had jaundice. He was hooked up to a biliblanket, and I had to wake him to eat all night.

After a few weeks, I put him on his own side away from his brother with a bed rail(we have used those since my oldest was little) those are actually very secure unless you have a pillowtop.. You must make sure they are put together properly though.

By 4 months, we sidecarred a crib for him.

My oldest sleeps in his room until about 3am and joins us most nights, he had the initiative to be a big boy all by himself..he will kick you out of his room lol last night he kicked my husband out of our room though lmbo

That's what we're waiting for. Our daughter to have the urge to WANT to sleep in her own room. As of right now, she's in the side-carred crib, so she has her "own" bed (which is a big step). Which basically leaves us with a king sized bed. Plenty of room to co-sleep with our newb.. I'm just having a hard time deciding which arrangement is easiest. And with the holiday this week, we don't have a ton of time to dwell on it.

I'm debating whether or not to move our bed/crib, and try to push it against the opposite wall.. or putting a bed rail of some sort between the side-car and the bed.

And this is really only going to be an issue when DH is home. He works out of town 1-2 weeks at a time. So he's really only home 2/4 weekends a month.

DH may be sleeping in our daughter's unoccupied bed when he's home, for awhile.

now that Isaac is older I let him come back   Isaac usually sleeps between us but sometimes he will sleep on the outside. He doesn't roll back to tummy yet and I generally sleep holding him so he won't roll off. But I also push myuself to the middle of the bed so he isn't by the edge. Then DH gets the little side of the king haha
