30 Days- Same Sex Parenting?
posted 19th Nov
I was watching the 30 Days series on Netflix, and I watched the Same Sex Parenting episode. Anyways, There was a mother who had to move in with a gay couple who was raising 4 adopted sons. The woman said some of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard- things like "If God wanted gay couples to reproduce he would have let them"- or something along those lines, and I'm thinking to myself "....So that means a woman or man with reproductive problems shouldn't be allowed to adopt either even if they're straight and married" You know? She said other asinine things, that gay means two people of the same sex sleeping together and they are down the hall from the children, and that is basically disgusting to her. Yeah, because a straight couple having sex is SO much "nicer"
Anyways, the episode got me thinking....
For me personally, the whole argument is idiotic.
To say that it is BAD for a child from a gay household to have to "explain" to other people that they have 2 moms or dads, is ridiculous. In THAT respect, it should ALSO be "bad" that a child has to explain that their parents are divorced, or were never married, or their mom and dad are two different races....See what I mean? Asinine! lol
POLL Answers (Answers were too long to put in option boxes)
OPTION A:
If there aren't enough STRAIGHT couples to adopt, Orphaned/homeless/abused/neglected children SHOULD stay in the system/On the streets/ In abusive homes, for their entire childhoods if they have to, because it's better for a child to have NO parents/Bad parents than gay parents.
OPTION B:
Gay couples SHOULD be allowed to adopt children, because it's better for the child to have a loving family. A loving parent is a loving parent- Sexual orientation has nothing to do with your parenting abilities.
So what do you think about same sex parenting? Yay or Nay?

I'm 100% straight. I let this woman and child move in with us for a bit. We joke that were married. We have 3 girls. I don't see a problem with it.

A loving home is a loving home no matter the gender of the parents. Gays can raise kids just as well (and sometimes better) as straight people. If I were to ever put up a child for adoption I would request a gay couple. They deserve families too.

I am straight, but I support gay rights 110%
I have more gay friends than straight friends & 3 gay cousins. And I see how much they truely care for their SOs. Honestly, some of them would make better parents together than some straight couples I know.
Love is love, people just need to learn to accept it.

My DH has a dad and stepmom (they married when he was a teenager), his mom and stepdad (she married him a year ago) and a stepdad and his wife (mom divorced that stepdad when DH was 12). All of them have been parental figures in my DHs life. I don't see why 2 men/women in a relationship would be different than a lot of divorced households.

absolutely B
a loving family is a loving family. The sexual orientation of the prospective parents should not be a factor in determining their eligibility to adopt.....it is completely irrelevant.
