So pissed off at my friend. Vent

I posted a bit about this before but my DH updated me a bit. I have this friend who I haven't really had the chance to see much since we now live 45 minutes away from each other and she hasn't been texting me to keep in touch much. Well she just had a baby in april and recently got custody of her niece. Her husband called me last week saying that my friend has been drinking a lot lately. Like every night. She's a really mean drunk and always takes her anger on her husband. He wanted to know if he and te kids could come stay with us for a night or two. Well, I said no because DD was sick and whatnot. Well, I guess he found somewhere else to stay an I guess he and my friend talked and decided to work on the issue. DH told me he talked to her husband and apparently my friend went on a drinking binge last night and got pissed off and started throwing smurf when her hubby wouldn't go out and get her more booze. She called the cops on him and CPS was called (I don't know who called them). I'm so angry at her! She's always been a raging bitch toward her husband and he's always put up with it and now because of her drinking she could lose everything. I can't even bring this up to her or it will just make everything worse for her husband an she won't speak to me for god knows how long (it's happened before). Not to mention her niece is 8 and was in a terrible situation before my friend got custody and now the little girl sees all of this going on and is inI another bad situation. Her uncle even has had to tell her her aunt is 'sick' when things get bad. I feel terrible and I just wish I could slap some sense into her and help them! But I will just leave it be because I don't want a friend like that in my life if she just wants to ignore the problem.

Why are you mad at her? It's not your business.

Hopefully she'll get her smurf together.

Poor kids.

Geeesh I feel sorry for those poor innocent children that be my concern if she wants to wreck her life so be it,but don't hurt the children with stupidness!! I hope everything works out!

I don't mean to sound insensitive. That is bad for the kids to be around. But unfortunately, there's nothing you can do for your friend. Sometimes people just choose the wrong path. Maybe the dad should take the kids from her?

That why I'm so pissed off. Thankfully, her son is so young and doesnt really know what's going on but her niece sees it and knows something is wrong.

And it's not really my business but I do have a right to be pissed off about her not so great choices because I care.

Hopefully the husband can take the children and she can get help. I can understand why you are pissed, if someone I loved and cared about was choosing this way of life I'd be pissed as well. But, you have to walk away at some point, the stress isn't good on you, and until she falls flat on her ass, she's not going to wake up. And btw, cops called CPS, they have to in a situation like that.

How did she get custody of the niece? Does no one know about her alcoholic behavior?

I don't plan on doing anything about it. I said I would leave it be because I can't help. He could take the kids from her but he has nowhere it go. He's a marine with no family around so he would have nowhere to stay long term. They are in base housing and he can't kick his wife out of the house.

You do have a right to be pissed, I would be too. The question is why is her husband sticking around? She's abusive. I'd take the kids and gtfo of that situation real fast

Not even if he can prove her to be abusive and an alcoholic?

he shouldn't have issues getting his child, but it's her niece he doesn't have rights to her, even if he is married to her aunt. Poor children!

Yes she is her niece's legal guardian since July. Apparently the drinking started September and it's escalated since.

me too, I'd find a shelter to go to. Unfortunately men with children have a really hard time finding them, but the police could help. I find situations like this kind of appalling. Had this been a woman being abused, because let's face it, she IS abusing her husband, the police would have escorted him off the property and base housing or not, he wouldn't be able to return with her there.
