Quoting Susan Schultz:" Tell that to the people on these boards! you will never win that on here people get all fired up when you suggest to them gee you shouldnt have kids if you can't afford to feed them lol"

I understand not being able to feed them if both parents are trying their hardest & just having a hard time getting by (especially since the cost of living in my state is outrageous), but I just don't understand when people act like they should get to stay home while somebody else besides their spouse pays all their bills. Oh how unrealistic that is.

Yeah it got pretty bad here with teenagers getting pregnant so they could by an iphone. Then they stopped lump sum payments to people inder a certain age

I agree with this. I'm a SAHM and I get no help from the government.
If our fam was to broke for me to stay home, I would work.

My mom ALWAYS wanted to be a SAHM and my dad really wanted for her to aswell. But she couldn't afford it. So she opend and in home daycare and still got to be with us at home so it was nice. But at the same time she had to work.. she did really well and made alot from that.

Being a stay at home mom is great and I have seen it benefit my son.. but if we were broke and had nothing.. I don't see how staying home would do good for my kids.

[snip!] ... to buy a car) i couldnt care less how much it is, i dont need it but it is pretty helpful to stock up on nappies, formula ect."</blockquote>

People were doing that though. They wanted the money for a new tv, hence why they stopped the lump sum

I got the lump sum in 08, it went straight into my bank where it stayed for ages
