can dayquil make it worse??

I have been dealing with sinus problems for at least 2 weeks straight now and lately my throat started hurting but only in the mornings because it was so dry from sleeping with my mouth open since I couldn't breathe through my nose. So I got the bright idea to try dayquil today and all day it has felt like i have a chest cold. As the night has went on I have lost more and more of my voice.


The only thing I have here to take is the dayquil but I almost think it made things worse so I don't know if I should take it again or not.

Do you think it could have made it worse?

I'd take Advil or Tylenol cold and sinus.....if the dayquil is for cold and flu, then it might not help...you need something with sinus on it. I'm dealing with a sinus infection too and it works great....also the netti pot, which is super gross, lol also works AMAZING for clearing your sinuses.

I have been taking sinus pills but I thought the dayquil would help with my sore throat in the mornings, and I took it today and now tonight I feel like its an actual cold. I'm coughing and losing my voice, and still having the sinus issues too lol.

I'm seriously considering just trying to get into the doc before the holiday since this has been going on for so long and I can't stand not having a voice (DH don't mind though lol)

Yeah, you might need antibiotics, I'd head to the doc's if you could.

I'm still in the early days of my cold (started this weekend), but it seems like everyone around me has bronchitis right now. I'm hoping this smurf isn't planning to linger/get worse, lol

I don't think the Dayquil made it worse...I'm sure it just spread to your chest and got worse on its own, and the Dayquil was just a coincidence. There's been a nasty URI going around here...I had it and I was sick for almost 3 weeks. Finally just got rid of the cough.

The more I think about it the more I think its time to see a doc anyways, it has had to be longer than the 2 weeks I thought it was because since this started I have went through a box of sinus pills, 2 entire bottles of nose spray, a bottle of allergy pills, who knows how many motrin, a full box of alka seltzer cold and now I have tried dayquil (not all at once). and I am taking the stuff like the packaging says, so I know it has had to be longer than that.
