C-section???

posted 19th Nov
This may sound crazy but, what are the pros to a c-section?

Imo pros are when it benefits the best interest and health of the mother and/or baby..

edit* HONESTLY benefits baby and mothers health, not for doctors sake..

I would say nothing. I would prefer a vaginal birth although I yet to experience one. Recovery from a C Section sucks in my opinion.

I'm more than likely going to have to have a repeat c-section so I'm trying to come to terms with it. :-/

Pros are when it's an emergency they can act quickly

I had Pre e and glad they did it when they did

The recovery was traumatizing though

I've had two and I can't think of ONE pro whatsoever!
I really do feel cheated out of the whole vaginal birth experience.

Pros being it saves a life if necessary or for the true HEALTH of mother and/or baby... Pro if the baby is just NOT coming out and there is evidence things are not up to par in the womb anymore... Umm, other than that I've had two and then a vaginal birth 10 days ago. The C-sections were death rapped in poo on fire compared to my 22 hours of active back labor   lol

For me, I didn't have to hurt my son (they said he would have ended up with broken shoulders), my son was able to get better quicker- instead of him getting any worse inside of me. But for just me, not a thing. If it were at all possible, and I could go back and have him vaginally, but also have him healthy with no issues, I would in a heart beat. That was by far, the worst pain I've ever experienced. & after my second epidural wore off to where only my thighs down were numbed, let's just say it was very traumatic for me. So much so, I have seriously thought about having DH get a vasectomy to avoid that ever happening again.

The 2nd one for me was more nerve wreaking than the first. My first was an emergency, push for 3 hrs and her shoulders were stuck. The 2nd I wanted to do a VBAC and my doctor was on board with that till it was discovered I had complete placenta previa at 20 weeks. I was so nervous before because I knew what to expect, the epidural was the worst part for sure. The healing time for me after the 2nd one was longer and more painful(could have been because I was also chasing a toddler around), took me every bit of six weeks to start to feel better. I also had to get a butterfly bandage put on at 4 weeks PP because my incesion came open.
I really do thing that knowing I'll have to endure another c-section in any future pregnancies will make me not have anymore.
