Bloody show

Just curious, what is the significance of getting your bloody show? Does it make it easier for you to dilate?

I had mine early Sunday morning and I did dilate to 1 cm, which I found out at my 39 week appt today.

Do i have a better chance of going into labor from having sex now with my mucus plug and bloody show gone? Or is it pretty much the same as before, 50/50 chance?

You usually have your bloody show because you're dilating, not vice-versa. And I wouldn't say it's ever a 50/50 chance of going into labor from sex; there's a theory that semen has prostaglandins that help soften your cervix, but sex itself won't cause labor if your body's not ready.

Losing your mucus plug and bloody show are probably a sign that labor is getting close, though.
