moms with kids who share rooms!

posted 19th Nov
we are moving in january and as of now our 1 year old sleeps in the walk in closet(in her crib) and her brother(3) has his own room, but our new place(which we haven't found yet) very likely will not have a walk in closet for her and lets be honest she can't sleep in a closet forever(although i did in high school lol).. soooo i'm thinking of moving them in together now before the move so she doesn't have two huge changes all at once(moving to a new place and in with her brother) so i'm looking for advice about how to do it..
her schedule is she sleeps 6pm-9am and naps for 2-3 hours in the afternoon.. she wakes up at sounds very easily so i'm going to get her a white noise machine for christmas and use a fan in the mean time..
his schedule is he sleeps from 7pm-6am and does not nap, he sleeps really heavy and sounds hopefully won't be an issue i'm more concerned about him waking her up in the night to 'play' or something
so any and all advice please!!

I find it odd her room is a walk in closet
Why not get a 3 bedroom apt?

My younger two have shared a room for years, I actually tried splitting them up when we moved and they started sneaking into each others rooms, LOL. They worked it out fine. She went down for naps without issue though he did wake her up when he got up.

I'm sorry. I only have one child so I can't really give advice on how to move her in his room to sleep.

uhhhh...what's the question?? lol.. sounds like you got it figured out. Either the kids share a room, or get a 3 bedroom place.

i guess technically it could she just wakes up so easily it would be very difficult having her in our room and then there's sex.. lol

DD slept in my walk in closet as well. To PP, it's actually nice especially when thy are little because they can be in our room but have their own little nook! We took the doors off and put up curtains to block out light.

OP I don't have advice since I only have 1 child and we all share a room but now we don't have a closet and its been difficult

I felt weird about but it turned out to be the best thing ever. It allowed us to feel close but still have privacy. Now we don't even have a closet and I miss it terribly. She wakes up if I move in bed and if she wakes up she sees us so she wants to be picked up.

This is going to sound super stupid but what about doing a master bedroom for the kids in the new place and you and DH take the smaller bedroom? Hang a curtain in that room they'll be sharing so they don't easily disturb one another. Put her on the side of the room farthest from the door so when he wakes earlier than her, he can just get up and go out without moving curtain and bothering her. If that doesn't sound good, put her crib in the loving room or something so she's in her own "area" at night and away from your room so you and your husband still can have intimate time without her peeping through the crib bars.

This is what we tried to do but our room just wasn't set up to work like that. But OP it is a good suggestion.

One of our thoughts is that if we have another LO or if DD is just too big we will turn the living room into a bedroom a vice versa. This way we have much more room. By doing this we could have more room for everyone and set up curtains or room dividers.

that might be a good idea actually, we talked about doing that in the old apartment but since we had the closet in this one we never did it.. we'll have to see what the new place is like and go from there..
