Smurf you PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago but have had symptoms for a few years. I have now been on my period going on 4 weeks with no end in sight. I have gained 40lbs and have been having severe hormone issues. My hair is falling out! They put me on metformin to balance my hormones and that is doing is giving me stomach cramps.!!

I just want to cry today

I'm sorry.   I have PCOS too, and I feel your pain.

Metformin never helped me because I'm considered "normal" weight, so it just gave me horrible gastro issues and they took me off of it. My hair falls out like crazy, I have random periods and insane mood swings/hot flashes. There's nothing they can give me to help, so far.

Yes. I have a hormone imbalance from PCOS which has made my hair fall out and gain weight. Plus it's hard to loose the weight. And I've had extremely long periods for over two years even have gone through surgery to remove polyps from my uterus which did not help. I just want a normal period! Lol

Bleh. That sucks.   The only reason I was able to lose weight was because when I was pregnant with my twins (which I got pregnant with after like 17 months of fertility treatments due to PCOS) I developed a hernia in my stomach that caused me to be in excruciating pain everytime I ate. So, basically, I starved myself skinny.

Because it helps with glucose intolerance which many PCOSer have. Many are prediabetic. They can't process glucose like a normal person can. It helps with imbalance of hormones. I'm on Metformin also for PCOS

No My blood sugar was at 74. I'm on metformin because it supposedly makes your brain send a signal to your ovaries to stop making hormoanes

Women with PCOS don't digest sugars/carbs like most people do, so they gain weight and it messes with the hormones. Metformin helps to regulate it. At least, that's the way my doctor explained it to me. Also, women with PCOS are either borderline diabetic or already have diabetes. They don't know if PCOS causes diabetes or not yet, but it's a contributing factor for a lot of diabetes in women.

I just want my period   it's been since June for me

My best friend has pcos also and is on it too. I was told its supposed to help with insulin and so that she can ovulate and have a period.
(she's the opposite she doesn't get periods)

Have you tried Provera?
