Alcohol

posted 19th Nov
This might be a silly question..
It's been 1 week since my c-section. I haven't taken any medication since yesterday, and it was a percocet. Would it be ok to have a small drink tonight? Let's say a half a shot of whiskey in some coke and probably no more than that.

You should be fine. Unless there is a reason you shouldn't be drinking that is.

I have a thing against breastfeeding and alcohol, but that's just me. Is the newborn nursing or bottle feeding?

Yeah, maybe just feed baby right beforehand or feed baby pumped bottles for the evening. Not sure how you feel about it all so please don't take me personally   Everyone makes their own decisions.

Make sure you pump and dump then. But the Percocet is deff out of your system if you haven't taken it since yesterday.

Oh I understand! I was planning on nursing before hand and just using my already stored bottles afterwards. ^_^
I was just mainly concerned about alcohol being a blood thinner and all.

She doesn't need to pump and dump. Alcohol leaves your breast milk as it leaves your blood stream. No need to waste precious milk.

Crazy. My son is 5 and my LC with him told me to never pump and dump when drinking, unless it was to relieve engorgement.

Never knew that. I don't really drink and I'm pregnant with my first but good to know! They still teach in nursing school to pump and dump though but this was 3+ years ago.
