re: I'm so annoyed with Dr's and medical charts

Your kids look perfectly healthy to me. My niece is 8, and weighs 50 pounds, and the other is 11 and weighs 79, and is tiny as hell. Some kids are just genetically smaller than others.
This is the 8 year old, only a pound heavier than your daughter:

Looks about the same to me.

Oh wow! I can not imagine (personally) another 2 yrs before being diagnosed!

We did decide to medicate. We had tried everything else. Eliminating dyes, and completely changing diets (we actually did this twice, about 2 yrs apart) we tried natural remedies and nothing was helping.

We started Ritalin in Sept. but after a week we hated it, his crashes were awful and it really only lasted like 45 min. So we switched to Metedate cd and it was amazing! Crappy thing is we went for a refill only to find out no one could order it this month. So our dr put us on Concerta? and it was a rough week for him, but now that he is used to it it is working for him.

We went from him never coloring a recognizable picture to him drawing the state of NM from memory. And now he loves coloring. I have been so pleased with the medication and how much it has helped. Oh, he also road a skateboard and a bike his first week on meds! But, we are fairly new to all of this, so it is really nice to see someone who is in a similar situation.

Concerta has worked WONDERS for us! She still has crashes but they aren't bad. I have noticed a huge difference in how she acts without her medication and when she has it. It concerns me but it's only like her flamboyant side has been reduced, like she is still "her" doing her weird smurf but not so destructive, LOL. I'm not sure how to explain it but honestly and truly, as much as I hate to say it, I much prefer her personality on meds. She's not so insane but still her. Concerta is mild enough that it doesn't eliminate "her" but controls those out of control tendencies. I'm very VERY happy with the things we've seen from concerta. She's gone from failing to A-B honor roll and still has all those quirks I love, just toned down to a manageable level. It's been amazing for us, I really can't say enough about it. It works for her beautifully.

That is what I love abou the concerta. He is still odd just not obnoxious! That an his dangerous impulsiveness has decreased. The only down fall is that it has heightened his sensory issues that were almost gone :-(

I am really happy I found someone else who is in the same meds and loves it. I am so used to finding so many people who actually tell me I am a horrible parent for giving the meds.

Oh I know...right now I think he's getting enough one on one time. My mother and DH were so against getting him into therapy because they think there isn't anything wrong with him...but we get it through the state which means he has to qualify and he does...so obviously he needs it lol.
Thank you for being so open about your son....I know personally it can be hard to talk about and frustrating to explain to parents with "normal" children who may not understand.

Just got back from the doctors, my son is 42 1/4 inches tall and 41 lbs. he is 85th percentile. I asked if he's considered overweight and the doctor said not at all. He turned 4 in August btw.
