Quoting It's Delivered:" but yet standard is so expensive. Don't let them treat your babies that way. They're fine."
I want to switch but they said we can't because we didn't switch when he reenlisted. I'd be willing to pay but they told us we can't.

Um, they told you wrong. You can go to standard anytime. You will be locked out of prime for a year.

Your children all look healthy to me! I would go with your heart momma bear! They told my mom the same thing about me being under weight for my height and all so she put me on the diet and the pills to help me like the DOCTOR ordered and it caused all kinds of health issues for me later down the rode such as futility issues. I am very lucky to be pregnant right now. It is only by the grace of God. The Doctors were very amazed to see me Pregnant and my husband and I tried for 3 years. I really advise yo to do what you think is right for YOUR CHILDREN... Because it is amazing how what you do now with kids as far as medicine and diets can effect them as adults,Go with what you think if they seem happy and are not sick all the time I would not worry about it . you children are beautiful by the way
so good luck momma bear!

What the hell? They all look happy and healthy. And if your almost 5 year old is 38lbs and overweight, I guess my 3 1/2 year old is obese because that's how much he weighs. I'm sorry you're stuck with such an incompetent doctor. Just take what she says with a grain of salt.
What does "globally delayed" mean?

He's shorter which I'm sure has something to do with it. Globally delayed means all of his normal functions or most of them are behind. His gross motor skills are normal(walking, jumping, running, climbing, ext) but his fine motor skills(holding forks, crayons or anything that requires specific motor skills)verbal skills and mental skills are all lagging behind what is "normal" for his age. In addition he had significant sensory issues. His therapists don't agree that he is mentally behind( as well as myself, though that is something I will have to go over more with his dr) but his verbal skills and fine motor are behind what they should be which is why he goes to speech and occupational therapy in addition to going to a daily special needs pre- k. Basically he is behind in more than just one area which means he is delayed in most areas or globally delayed.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel that way- Internet is hard to display important things like tone of voice. ( I tried by saying you are fine momma). But I totally get you. My daughter is 3 1/2 and she is 28 lbs and about the same height as your daughter. And my son actually looks like your son but is small for his age. He is 5 and is barely in 4's. the most important thing is tht your kids are the size tey are because you are feeding them healthy. If they ate crap I would see reason for concern!

No, the fault my mine. I read it but I was just feeling over sensitive and in a foul mood. I know she is skinny and often looks too skinny. It's just a touchy spot and I didn't mean to snap at you. I asked for opinions and she does look very skinny to those that don't understand her normal body structure. I appreciate your opinion and I'm glad you were honest with me. She could use a few pound on her frame and I'm not opposed to that, I was just irked over putting her on a diet and that she is abnormal. Again sorry, you were only giving an honest opinion and I was rude.

Hm, that sounds like my son except all his motor skills are good, but he's behind in all mental areas - his speech and cognitive function is that of an 18-24 month old. When did you start noticing the delays? And how short is he? He looks average to me.

Well we started just before he was 3, he was at a 12 month speech level then. He global delay is a newer diagnosis, just a few months ago at 3 1/2. In a year and a half he progressed to an 18 month level which was only 6 months in a year and a half of intensive speech therapy. When we saw a developmental therapist and had a long intensive session is when the new diagnosis came around. He is far behind in occupation and speech, he's made some good progress in the additional therapies but still has problems holding crayons/pencils/forks. With speech he understands a wide range of individual word but not sentences. Stuff like that.
As for height he was in the 45th% at his last app so not quite average but not a ton below.

Ah, I see. I ask because I'm not sure whether my LO will be in a special ed class in preschool or not but I think it's too soon to tell. I noticed his speech was behind when he was around 2 1/2. Right now he has a developmental therapist come to our house 4 days a week. She is talking about other problems though, like ODD and ADHD so I guess I'll have to see how it plays out.
My son is in the 75th percentile so he looks skinny even though he's heavy. That height/weight chart is bull crap though. Not every single person in the world is directly proportional so I don't understand why doctors think kids should be.

Well thank you, I do appreciate this. Not many people on bg ( or in life) would being willing to say this. And I do understand where you are coming from- I've had those days and know how touchy these things can be.
Sort of off topic, but my oldest has a developmental delay and just recently was diagnosed with ADHD

I meant. 4 1/2, he's almost 5. My personal experience was that if he need special needs pre-k they would tell you but I've seen over time our experience was somewhat unique and if you think he needs extra help you should press for it. I never had too, my sons therapists and teachers were very proactive in the help he needs but he is very far behind what is "normal". If you feel your child isn't getting the help he needs please speak up! Talk with his teachers, request a referral with a developmental pedi, say everything on your mind. I sorta went along with everything and didn't express my worries at first and I believe I denied my son therapies he needed. It's better to be over active in his therapies than under active, voice your worries!!

I don't like admitting I'm wrong but I'll do it, haha. I also know I'm over sensitive and sharp when I shouldn't be. I can say I'm sorry when I should I just can't tell when I shouldn't be an ass before hand, lol
If you need advise or just to talk I'm here any time. I can't relate specifically since my own were different but I can give advise based on my own experiences with those two diagnoses.

Thank you. It is always nice to have support. He has a couple other disorders too, but it took so long to get the ADHD diagnosis!

My daughter way 7 before she got her ADHD diagnosis! In a year and a half she went from failing grades to A-B honor roll. I know how frustrating it can be, we struggled for some time before finally getting help. I'm not sure if you have decided to medicate and I know it's not for everyone but we did and it made a VAST difference in her school life and home behavior. So I can help with that if you need advise on medicating an the difference if made in our lives. We didn't medicate for a long time so I know that side too.
