when to make the switch?
posted 19th Nov
My LO (age 2) sleeps in a porta crib right now. He still tries to climb out of it. When is a good age to make the switch from crib to bed? Im worried he will get up and destroy everything. He has his own room so there isnt much he could destroy but there is some stuff he could. What age did yall make the switch? Does your toddler still use a crib? When do you plan to switch? How did you know your LO was ready for the bed? How do I keep him in the bed if I get him one?

My 2 year old just mastered getting out of his crib. I have to wait until he is almost on the floor sleeping to put him to bed or he just climbs out and plays. I want to put him in a toddler bed already, but I don't think he's ready.

If your child is climbing out of the crib its time to transition. clear out his room so its empty and there is nothing he can get into..my daughter was 21 months old when we did the switch...

We switched him over just before he turned 2. It was actually way easier than I thought it would be...I just would check on him a few times before I went to bed and if he was out of bed or fell asleep on the floor I'd move him and after like 2 days he got the hang of it. Oh and we put a gate in his door frame so he wouldnt wander out.

How do I get him to stay in the bed?

He was trying to climb out at 14 mo.---as in I walked out and he had one leg over the bar stretching his foot toward his dresser.
Moved him that day. Never had a problem. He's been in a twin bed since then.
