First birthday help!

I was thinking about maybe having a little birthday party for my son's first birthday with close friends and family.
The only thing is I've never thrown or been to a first birthday and have no clue what to do! I have so many question!
Should their be games? What about foods? Etc.
What did you do for your DS/DD's first birthday?

My youngest LO just turned 1 on October 27th. We just had immediate family and a few close friends. We had a few balloons. We got low sugar cupcakes and let him have one. We did a normal dinner. Nothing special. Stuff we knew he liked though. Then he opened his presents and played with them. The adults got to watch and talk and play with him and his new toys. Really easy and simple

Thats how I was thinking maybe of doing.
Everyone keeps asking about when he's having a birthday party but he's only one there isn't really alot to do.
He has alot of cousins though should I do games for them atleast? Or just keep it simple and easy?

You could have a few games for them but I would keep it centered around your LO. Even though he is too little to really understand its still his day. Ya know?
