Dr. worthy?

posted 19th Nov
My daughter is 3 months old and has this large red mark in between her little neck rolls. It seems to be bothering her especially if it's touched in any way. I have tried keeping her neck dry, put baby powder to help keep it dry, wiping her neck dry after feedings, wiping after baths, pretty much anytime it is wet or could be wet. I have no idea what to do. I don't know if I should take her to the doctor either. Some helpful advice is greatly appreciated.

Is that a pustule or just a non-red spot?

A pustule?

It looks a lot worse in person. It's super red, smooth, and has a bit of a shine to it. I thought it could be from trapped moisture? But Idk and it bothers her.

My daughter's got like that from slauber/spit up/etc. We tried everything you mentioned then eventually after patting it dry we started using Desitin ointment. Cleared up really well and we were able to stop using it once she was holding her head up better and spending less time laying down.

Looks like maybe yeast. I'd take her in personally.

Yeah I used desitin when my dd was a baby too, cleared her neck up very very well.

I'd try something like this before rushing in. Or bag balm. Helps heal and provides a barrier from the moisture.

I normally don't run to the dr. for this sorta thing, but if it's causing her discomfort, I'd at least call the nurse line.

To me...It just looks like it's raw from spit, milk, etc. This happened to my nephew and when I was a home health aide..I had overweight clients who would get this kind of rawness between their rolls when they weren't dried completely. Wet skin rubbing on wet skin will break the skin down.

Maybe try vaseline, or antibiotic ointment?

That's waht I was thinking. My son had a similar spot when he was her age but it was pink and caused him no discomfort adn his was from trapped moisture. But since hers seems to cause her discomfort and it's super red we're taking her in just to play it safe.

looks like a yeast infection. DD's will get a little red from time to time from formula and moisture getting trapped.

I called the pediatrician and she said to put a&d or desetin on it and if it doesn't start to clear up in a day or two or it starts to get worse then to bring her in.
