Febreeze for toy?

posted 19th Nov
Please don't quote!

So I have friends with am almost 3 year old son who has autism. He plays with household objects over toys, including full febreeze canisters. First, I have a question isn't that dangerous? He always holds by the trigger, I'm scared he'll spray himself. But if they take it he screams.

Second is mostly just a story. Healways throws things, its just something he does. He doesn't like chairs to be upright, or anything else for that matter. So he tries to knock things over with the cans too. Well last night he threw a febreeze into their 32 inch flat screen tv. I feel bad but also feel like since he throws smurf over, it probably shouldn't have been arm level for him.

Anyways kind of pointless post. I just felt bad his parents were sooo pissed off he did it. He's a super sweet boy.

is the can empty? I wouldn't use febreeze as a toy, but it's not my kid so they can do whatever they want.

Freeze bottles can lock but that's still not something I'd give my kid to play with when it's full of chemicals. His parents need to be more patient, especially since he's autistic. It's their fault for giving him the bottle.

Febreeze* damn autocorrect.

And I mean, if he is that set on having the bottle I would empty the febreeze out, clean it really good and just put water in it so he isn't being exposed to those chemicals.

Sounds like my one year old lol he HAS to knock down every single chair he can get his hands on and rather play with things that are not toys. But a febreeze bottle is going a bit over board I would not let my son play with something like that. Even if you empty it I wouldn't really consider it safe. Maybe get him an empty spray bottle that they have in the make up isle at the pharmacy?

Oh forgot to add its not like a plastic bottle of febreeze that locks, its the can ones so we can't refill them. And when he plays with the cans, they still have febreeze in them. And I agree patience is key, he likes what he likes. It's hard to redirect him but I always try when I'm there. And as for the broken tv, like I said-I would have put it up but oh well. That was another thing like chairs that he just wanted on the floor instead of upright.
