Preemies at 1 year check ups!

posted 19th Nov
Questions for the mama's out there with preemies like myself.
DS was born almost 8 weeks early, due to pre-e.
We just had his 1 year check up (his birthday was yesterday)
He weighs 19lbs, 15oz, & is 28 inches long.
His pedi could tell I was worried because he hasn't really grown that much since his 9 month check up, & reassured me that with preemies, especially ones that were born so early, they tend to catch up around 2 years old. He still expects him to end up between 5'9"-6'1" tall. (I'm 5'7", DH is 5'9" & a half.)

I'm just curious what everyone's preemies weighed & what their heights were at their year check ups. If they are older now, did they end up catching up around 2 years old?

Sorry, I just worry a lot. :\ He is doing AMAZING on his other developments, though. He's been taking a few steps almost every day, he's been occasionally saying "Hi", among other stuff.

I can't recall her exact numbers, but I think it was "around" 20lbs at a year. She did catch up by 2 though. She's nearly 3 now and right on track for height and age.

My preemie was 3 weeks early (judged preemie in the NICU due to development) and 17-18 pounds at 1 year. So yours is already bigger than mine was. He was usually about 25th for height and 5th for weight most of his first year.

He shot up by his third birthday. He is in the 80s for height percentile and 40s for weight. He is 3 1/2 now, 40 inches, 35 pounds.

He was never behind at all in anything, just small in size until recently.

My premie was 6 weeks early and she will be 1 in exactly 2 months and she is only 14 pounds and 24 inches long. Do not be concerned because as long as she is healthy then it is fine. She was a little behind on some developmental skills, but has conquered those and also has almost 5 teeth. Our pedi said that the most important thing is that they are healthy and striving. We will have small bits of dynamites in little packages ( which I was to) and that is perfect for me
