Potty training sucks

My 3 yr old son isn't potty trained. I ask him every hour or so if he has to go potty and he will tell me yes and he will go pee but he won't tell me when he has to go on his own, I have to ask. My SO and I repeatedly tell him that if he needs to go that he has to tell one of us and we will take him to the potty. He will poop his pants then tell me what he did. We have tried rewards, bribes all that good stuff and nothing works. He will pee in the potty and get a new pull up on and 5 or less minutes later he tells us he pooped. It's starting to frustrate me. Plus his dad works 2nd shift so when he goes to his dads on wednesdays my ex's girlfriend has my boys from 2-8pm and I doubt she's trying to potty train him. Everybody's on my ass to get him potty trained but I can't force him to go. I've tried taking toys, taking away tv time, telling him santa claus doesn't bring presents to little boys that poop their pants and nothing seems to bug him. He's going to be 4 in april and he's getting too big for diapers. I can't do the naked thing because we have all new carpet and he will pee and poop everywhere. Help me  

I would just do the naked training anyways.. you can go to the store and rent a carpet cleaner, (works extremely well) for $25 a day. it took me 3 hours to clean the carpet in all of our house. pull ups are confusing.  

My son will also be 4 in April and still isn't poop-trained. He's pee-trained perfectly but refuses to sit on the potty to poop. I don't know what to do to get him to try, and I also have a fussy 5 month old so my patience isn't too great either. I'm sorry I can't help but you're not alone.
As for everyone else, screw them. My son has a learning delay and I still get smurf for it all the time. You're not a bad parent for not forcing a little boy and traumatizing him into being potty-trained.

I hear you. It's frustrating. My DD turned 3 in October and she goes perfectly at school and refuses at home. I don't fuss at her though bc I don't want her to view it in a negative light as punishment. She is no where near pooping on the potty either. Idk what to do. I'm hoping being home with her the next few months will help ***SIGHHH***

have you talked to his dr? he knows what hes doing hes purposely going to the bathroom in his pants here he would be punished have you tried using a training potty reg potty and the seat that goes on the reg potty? use underwear not diapers and night rain him at the same time

I really can't do the naked thing, my dad is my landlord and he told me no. Pull ups are just as bad as diapers just less absorbent, atleast for me they are.

He could just not be ready. My daughter was trained then regressed into always peeing in her underwear. I talked with her doctor and she basically said just stop trying. If she wants to wear a diaper let her and to just stop making a big deal about it. I stopped reminding her I stopped forcing her into underwear she could be naked at home and when we went out she got a choice underwear or pull up. Id be damned if after 2 days she if asking to wear her underwear going on her own and we have been accident free for 3 days now. It shouldn't be a battle. No punishing of any kind only positive reinforcement. Ignore everyone else. He wont poop and pee his pants forever. Skip the pull up during the day and go for naked or underwear

With my daughter we did the naked thing and I had a potty in the living room and told her if she has to go, go ahead and go. I wouldn't be harsh on the kid.

  oh i see... and thats what i was saying with the pull ups. they just confuse the baby

I also have a 2 yr old, 1 yr old and my daughter is due in 2 months. I'm gonna have my hands full. So I really want him potty trained by the time I have the baby. 4 kids in diapers is gonna kill me. My son is so stubborn and does what he wants so yea trying to force him to do anything is a joke lol

I did naked training with my boys around 3 years old. both were trained in about a week. My daughter was trained the day we took her diaper off. she was 2 1/2. now my other daughter is 2. she started showing interest a few months ago. now tho, she wont even try to pee in the potty. she runs when I try to sit her on it, and then once she's up there, she does nothing. then she pees in her pants...

No I haven't talked to his doctor, I doubt she'd help much. He does get punished, I take things away but he just doesn't care. I have a potty chair and the thing that goes on the regular toilet. He's ruined 3 packs of underwear, I don't wanna wash smurf (makes me puke)

Holy smurf.   Maybe try potty training him and your 2 year old together? A girl in my PT did that and they both got it down at the same time. That way you can at least cut it down to 2 in diapers.
My son is stubborn as hell too. Have you put underwear on him? I eliminated all diapers and pull ups since he just poops once a day. Then when he goes awhile without accidents, get your carpets cleaned. It will be way less money than continuing to buy diapers lol.

I really can't afford 4 kids in diapers. He doesn't mind peeing and pooping his pants. A lot of the time he will poop and not tell me and then fall asleep. Again I can't do the naked thing.

Switch to cloth. You cant force it. He will train when ready and the more pressure you put on him the worse its gonna be.
