SO's grandma... wtf?!

SO's grandma is always so whiny and moody, and I understand that she's older and she's got some issues. She always acts cold to everybody. Last night, we were having a family get-together and eating chili and joking around, and it was going well. She was holding DD, and all of a sudden, out of NOWHERE, looks at me and says "If you hurt her, I'll take her away from you."    Like, SERIOUSLY?! What the actual smurf?!!? I'm seriously beginning to hate her... That was totally embarrassing...

 

is she in her right mind?

Maybe she has some mental issues. You said she is older so she may not be in a competent mental state to communicate appropriately. I have seen aging people become more angry because they lose the ability to think clearly and effectively communicate. Has she been like this her whole life? I would just take it with a grain of salt.

No, she's totally mentally stable, as far as old age goes. She's always been like that, according to SO's dad and aunt. Now, she could have a mental disorder that was never diagnosed or treated. I don't know, though. I'm not her doctor, nor do I live in her brain. After that comment, I wouldn't want to. I think she hates me for having a baby and living with SO before getting married.

Oh then I would seriously be like WTH too....but still i wouldnt let her bother me. Hopefully you dont have to be around her that often.
