Obviously because your SO has an issue with that and doesnt think its fair. And instead of asking me this question you should be asking him. You never put in your original post that you see his family on christmas eve and day. Had you said that then I would agree that he should be more agreeable with seeing your family first on Thanksgiving. I see Christmas as a a bigger holiday than thanksgiving and if his family is getting that holiday no questions asked every year then yes he should go to your family first on Thanksgiving. But I still wouldn't expect that his family would change their tradition to accomadate your family's. Yes it would be nice if they did, but its probably not likely they will or it would have already been done. My parents are divorced, so including my inlaws that leaves us with 3 or more places to go on holidays. And DH and I just go when we are able to each function and they just have to get over it if we are late. Trust me they'd rather ya'll come late or a little early then not at all.
