Unless your doctor suggests you stop working for health reasons, you can probably keep working right up to the end. Just take breaks frequently... or if you can afford to, maybe 37 or 38 weeks. But I know I'd go broke if I took any extra maternity leave than the 6 weeks alotted.

Well, I would say till you get really tired to the point where you can't be on your feet any more. My job is pretty easy so I worked till Thanksgiving, when I went into labor.

How far sling are you? I'd be a little concerned with the smells, talk to your doctor about it. But the sooner in the pregnancy you take may leave, the less time you have with LO after they're born

I can take maternity leave 17 weeks before my due date and can apply for unemployment. Not sure how it works with you.

This might be a good question to ask your dr as well. My dr told me it was fine to have my hair colored and such so I think that is all to do with what you are comfortable with doing. Also, being on you feet all day can be so tiring. I used to work as a supervisor at a grocery store so was on my feet ALL day. I worked until 3 weeks before my due date and it was NOT easy. I also went for prenatal massages very often to help with my back and legs.As for the maternity leave itself, im not to sure. I know my hairdresser worked until about 3 weeks or so before her due date and her son is like 6 months old now and she works one day and one evening a week just to keep her clients basically.

That's what I'd like to do right now but I can't. I'm only working PT to bring some extra spending cash for myself into the house, SO takes care of the house and the bills...... but as soon as I found out I am having a girl I've been shopping non stop - I have to support my spending habits somehow! lol so I'll have to work through the pain in my feet.

I worked till the day i delivered, but my job is mostly sitting down. I would work as long as possible though, sitting at home waiting sucks with that kind of anticipation.

im only 10 weeks so its more for future reference rather than me wanting to give up now. im hoping once i get passed this horrible sicky and tired phase that ill be fine   im registered as self employed so im guessing i dont have a certain amount of time after ive given birth to go back.. but ive been told by my ''employer'' that i can go back after ive given birth and work a couple of night a week.. whenever i can get a babysitter really. im sure the babys father will be more than happy to do that though. xx

have a friend who is a hairdresser also. She owns her own salon and works more than 40 hours. She worked till the day she went into labor, if it were me i would do the same since you wont get paid once your not working.

I was sick till I was about 14 weeks, but after you get over the sick phase of it, it'll be a lot easier to work and you'll feel more like your old self. I am currently 24 weeks and I work part time but I stand all day as well. It was bad though the sick phase but now it's not too bad. With my first I worked 4 twelve hour shifts a week and it was constant standing, my legs and calves would swell so bad but I worked through it until a week before my due date so I could spend more time at home after with the baby than being at home before.
