I usually do a minute per year in their age. So like 4 and 7 minutes for the respective child. Although, I personally think timeouts only work up to a certain age and then it's something like taking something special away kinda thing. But idk when I even think that age is yet ( oldest is only 3) so that's obviously up to you.

Chris gets to aggravated & thinks half hour is what they need. I told him that's to long & he gets upset with me saying im babying them & they need more discipline. So he said 15 mins but that's to long for alainna.. hasn't happened in a while but i was just thinking about it.. wanted to see what others thought..

15 minutes for a 4 year old is too long. They wont even remember why they got in trouble in the first place. The 7 year old maybe. Depends on what happened.

I do that with my 7 year old. He gets timeout & loses the xbox privileges for awhile..

Yeah.. OK.. Chris is a little bit crazy. I know you know this. 15 minutes for a 4 year old? a little bit much. Adrian has to stay sitting on the step for 5 minutes quietly. Tell him this is what I do with OUR son, and if he doesnt like it that you want to do it that way then for him to tell me not to parent our son like that same way.

Agreed. He lets me handle it so they never get the timeouts he suggested to me. I was just curious..

I know the reason he suggested it was timeouts don't always work & he wanted to help. It wasn't a fight but he feels like i never listen to him. I will agree with him sometimes i do kinda baby them. Ill talk to them about things before i do the timeout but i can't make them sit there longer than they should have to. Whenever someone has to go to timeout now & he sends them there (rare) he just tells them to stay till i say they can get up..

Yeah I know how you feel... Its not a bad thing babying them a little bit. Do they know right from wrong? Do they know when you really mean business? If so then you are doing right. I know its hard especially having someone that doesnt listen. Just think I am raising the hellion of a kid lmao. Have you and chris talked about these things?

Yea. We talked about it when he suggested it. He just lets me handle the timeouts. I told him its a min per year. He looked shocked.lol. he listens sometimes i think to much. He's at the point now he needs my advice for everything. He doesn't always use it but he wants to know what i think about pretty much everything he does. I know he just wanted to help. I was very stressed that day, we just disagreed.. that's why it's all up to me..
