Breastfeeding 8 months or more.......

posted 19th Nov
My LO will be 8 months old in a week. I want to make it to a year so bad...it is so close! Up until now it has been pretty easy and I have enjoyed it but now.....she has teeth and has been biting the smurf out of my nipples. Is there anything I can do to stop her from doing that??? Everytime she bites me I just say "Ow that hurts mommy" and i unlatch her but she just smiles and laughs....and then if she does it again I stop feeding her. I don't know what to do and I don't want to give up

My son did that as well. I'd yell, talk nice, everything. Finally I stopped giving him a reaction and just took my nipple out of his mouth. His biting didn't last long because he wasn't getting any sort of reaction out of me, and he was losing a boob. Lose/lose situation!

Good luck!

If she is biting, she isn't actively nursing. You might just have to watch her and judge for yourself when she isn't getting milk anymore and proactively end the session before she bites.

that is what I was thinking...that is why if she does it more than once I end the session. it hurts so bad...she will like bite me and then pull he head back and my nipple goes with it!!!

on the doctors they were talking about wearing booby tubes inbetween your nursing and smooshing baby into your boob so they break the latch themselves everytime they bite going on 10 months here
