question for parents with twins **picture

posted 18th Nov
so my twins are 4 months and are still not sleeping through the night i have had them in my room since they were born, i was living with my mom up until the beginning of October and now i am in my own place in the same building.
i set up the play pen in my room and they have slept there since we moved in, and now that i have finished the nursery i want to have them sleeping in their own cribs as they are getting to chunky to sleep together in a play pen but i am worried that i wont hear them cry i sleep extremely deep and sometimes it takes my boyfriend to wake me up to hear them, they still get up every 3-4 hours to eat   (i always thought i mother woke up right away when a baby cried ... i think it might be because i am soo tired all the time). should i just try it and see how it goes or should i wait until they start to sleep though the night? when did your twins start sleeping through? i have read so much but it all seems to be suggesting using their swings which i dont want to do because i dont want them to become dependent on that to sleep. i dont want to push them into sleeping through the night if they arnt ready too just wanna hear your experiences!

my baby is also 4 months and i finally got him to sleep through the night .... they normally wake for a feeding right? instead of milk give the a little bit of water then the paci .... i did that for a month and then after i wouldn't give anything i would lay with him and give him the paci and he would pass out till 8 am... sounds simple but he wouldn't go down with out a fight til he gave in .... and we been co sleeping since he was 2 months old

I will definitely try that because they are starting to just suck the nipple of the bottle when they feed I tried them in the crib last night and they slept longer then usual but still got up usually one gets up before the other so I just bring them in bed with me but I can only co sleep one at a time lol

Hey! My twins are 5.5 months old now. They have been sleeping through the night since 4 months. I would be careful about giving them water. If they were premies (like mine) they are not to fill up on water because they need the breastmilk or formula to fatten them up if they are hungry!
I definately agree with you on not making them reliant on the swings! Perhaps they wake each other up in the night from sharing a playpen? I know we separated ours into their own cribs around two months because they were wiggling and bumping each other during the night. Try upping their food intake during the day if you haven't already. I give them an especially big bottle in the morning and before bed to fill them up. And make sure they have regular naps. I read the book "Healthy sleep habits, healthy twins", which has been a lifesaver! I credit it for our twins' awesome sleep habits! It emphasizes that "sleep begets sleep". In other words, don't keep babies awake too late or too much in the day in order to try to get a better night's sleep. Watch their body language and make sure they are getting enough rest during the day and going to bed early, not late.
Our girls go to bed around 7:30pm and sleep until between 6-7am. They have at least 2 naps, sometimes 3 during the day too. Hope this helps and isn't too much info!! Good luck to you! Twins are crazy busy, but crazy fun too!
