re: Explaining pregnancy to a 3y/o

Last year on Christmas Eve, my son was 5, we always leave a letter to Santa with their list and he asked Santa for a baby brother. Well 3 days later I was an emotional wreck for no reason so DH brought home a test and yep I was pregnant. So we just told the kids Santa gave mommy the baby   I told DS to ask for a new lexus suv this year lol

That is probably the safest way to tell a toddler. That's how we told our son. That or mommy and daddy love each other a lot and decided it was time to have a baby so we asked God for one.

My son understands that doctors are there to help. So when we get pregnant with #2 we'll tell him the doctor will take the baby out.

We have a framed picture of us in the OR after my csection with my son and he recently saw it and asked 'what's that' and I said that was when he came out of my belly. He looked at me funny for a second then was like 'cool' and ran off. Lol.

My 4 year old asked me how I got a baby in my tummy. We were eating lemons so I told her that I swallowed a seed. She dropped it so I thought that was the end of her asking. A couple of months later we were at a restaurant with the whole family and her 5 year old cousin was eating the lemons out of her tea. Well she swallowed a seed and my little girl yells very loud " Sailor is pregnant she ate the seed like my mommy did." Everyone stopped and looked at me and started laughing. It was very funny. But I had to explain to everyone one why my daughter thought her 5 yr old cousin was pregnant....lol

That's cute, my son freaks out with drs because recently (about 3mo ago) he was really sick and they have him a shot. so now when he sees drs, he runs the other direction. He does NOT see them as people who are there to help. A good part of my family is in the med field and I have 2 uncles who are drs. Brandon hates them. Lol

Aw. That sucks. Even after an ambulance ride, a bunch of tests and breathing treatments and a steroid shot my son still doesn't mind his,doctor. Lol.

But now when he sees the picture he says 'Bubba came out of mommy's belly button' lol! I showed him my scar but he still says belly button and I let him. I'm hoping for a VBAC with the next one but I'll let him think that one comes out of my belly too. Lol.
