Peanutbutter
posted 18th Nov
So I went to pick DD up after work today and my dad was telling me about her day and what she ate. Well apparently he spread peanut butter on her puffs at lunch (she's ten months) and she loved it. She didn't have any reaction to it, so does that mean she's okay to eat it again or should we still avoid it?

Avoid it. With a lot of food, problems don't show up till later.
He knows not to give her honey though, right?

Eh, i'd still clear of it till 12 months like recommended.

No it does not. Your body needs prior exposure to the allergen before a reaction. But that also does not mean he is. Just put off peanuts for a while longer.

Some allergies can actually be a result of introducing something too early. So I'd wait it out.

2 months isn't that big of a deal. I wouldn't feed it to her daily, but I don't see a big deal. I always start my kids on stuff like that a month or two early if they show interest.

I gave it to my daughter around 9-10 months. no history of peanut or any nut allergy on either side.
