talking

posted 18th Nov
At DS's 1 year appointment his pedi asked if he was saying any words and when I said no she kind of had this look.
All he can really say is Dadadada but i don't really even know if he associates it with his daddy. He won't call me mama either.
He understands a lot of words but just won't say them. If I ask him where my nose, eyes, mouth are he points to them.

She said I should just read to him everyday...which I've tried but all he wants to do is tear up the book or throw it. I try to talk to him and tell him what things are on a daily basis but he also goes to daycare during the week and I'm starting to wonder if they try to teach him anything....

But on the other hand...a lot of people say their babies didn't talk until 2+...so it's normal right?

yeah...i mean i'm not really too worried because he's very smart and understands things but still i think he should be trying to say something like mama or ball (since those are his favorite toys)..lol

he does say oh..sometimes but again i don't think he knows what it means

well, i have heard that boys generally talk later than girls do, but... idk. is he eating okay? does he have any problems like gagging or choking when he is eating? i ask this because my nephew was tongue-tied, and that was how my sister noticed it. he would gag and choke when he was eating because he didn't have the full range of movement with his tongue. it could be that your son has this and can't form the words...? idk. just a thought....
