Baby-wearing starting at 7.5 months.

posted 18th Nov
My son is seven months old and ALWAYS wants to be held. Yeah, he loves exploring on the ground but eventually he wants back up every time. If I go to the store, he isn't content riding in the stroller, carseat, or cart. I always end up lugging him around with one arm while pushing our cart...running into everything because I'm clumsy as hell. :/

Anyway, I've been considering maybe getting a moby wrap or making one or something like that. I'd prefer a wrap because I hate the buckles and straps of other carriers (I had a cheapy one and hated it). We used it maybe three times before giving up. He liked it but I hated it.

Felix is seven months and even though I know carriers can be used long after a year, everyone around me thinks I'm dumb for wanting to start babywearing now. That's not dumb, though, right? I mean, he loves being carried. So I do it. But I need my hands free so...what's the issue? Housework is slipping, things aren't getting done. Plus Felix naps a lot on me so I'm stuck in the chair or bed because it's hard to keep him asleep when I'm holding him with one arm and trying to do something with the other, you know?

Anyone else start babywearing when baby wasn't so small anymore? What did you use? Did it work for you?

Moby's are tough when they get bigger cuz the cotton stretches. If you don't want buckles I would look into a mei tai. they wrap, but are a soft carrier.

I hear the boba is wonderful.
I love love love our ring sling. I tried other carriers but my daughter was too big by 9 months to fit in them and they killed my back, shoulder. Ring sling =no pain!

I have the soft carrier one, and I love it. I had a moby and hated it. DS woud slide right out, and even had a professional help me wrap it correctly. He loves going in the boba though

I have heard of those and seen some pics but don't know much about them. I'll have to research them more!

I like them better than ergo since you don't need the newborn insert. it just folds over and snaps to be smaller. So it'll last forever, plus it's good til like 45lbs. I could put my 6 year old in it, haha

I purchased a moby when DD was a month old, and we used it a little bit--she did like it but for some reason I didn't keep using it. I just now, (she's 11 months) tried to put her in it and she screamed bloody murder lol. I wish she would go in it so then I could get some things done....she recently started walking so she likes to get in the way or tear up the house and I just want to get things clean so she won't go after no-no items   so basically my moby was an expensive waste
