I'd rather call my daughter by her middle name, but she loves her first name much more than I do!

my nephew is named after his father (aka a JR), but is called his middle name....his parents are divorced, pretty sure his crazy mother didn't want to call him his fathers name.

I do call my daughter Lucy instead of Ariadne. I will continue to do so until she decides she doesn't want to. My reasoning is because I wanted to name her Lucille Ariadne but it didn't flow right. I love both names.

No it does not, I mean a son gets called Jr and thats not even a middle name..just the very end of it lol.
But I picked my Sons name based on what I want them to be called, Middle names are family names so it's just being passed down.

Not really. My friend's name is Daisy but her family calls her by her middle name, Diana, because she says it's a tradition in the town in Mexico she's from.

We call our daughter by her middle name, and I didn't name her that bc it's not like when I named her, I knew I would call her by her middle name.

My mother always called me by my middle name. Audrey Sarah flowed better than Sarah Audrey, but she prefer the name Sarah and everyone called me that. I was 16 when I started telling people to call me Audrey.
I was never confused and neither were my teachers or friends by being called by my middle name.

I thought it was weird too. I had a boyfriend in high school named Jose but when I went to meet his family I kept hearing them say Gabriel. I was like why are they calling u Gabriel? He told me it was his middle name. I never got the story on why they called him by his middle names. In some cases it's seems like normal like if ur kid has the same name as ur kid and then u split or stuff like that. My daughters middle name is Sofia and my step dad calls her sofie for some reason. But everyone calls her by her first name which is Isabelle. No nicknames yet but if we do start shorting her name it will be belle

Oh, and people at my church call my daughter Cristy (nickname for her middle name). Teachers and classmates call her Novali so far, but every year she gives them the option of calling her Novali or Cristy.

My SO grew up going by his middle name, then when he was like 17 he decided to go by his first, I have only ever known his by his first name, but his family still calls him Derek (I know him as James) - it's super weird and awkward.
I don't know if I would ever do it, but it always surprises me when i find out someone is called by their middle, lol. I'm always like "WHAT!? What is your name!?!?" lol. Especially if their first name does not fit them.

Oh wait I remember in junior high I tried to get called by my middle name because everyone called my best friend by her middle name. She hated her first name and I didn't blame her lol. I've never really like my first name, sandra. My middle name is marisol but it never stayed. I was already known by too many as sandra lol. I don't lies like my name anymore Just hate when people say it wrong like casandra or sondra.
