Acting out night terrors

posted 18th Nov
My youngest child is 19mos. He's never been a good sleeper and wakes up 3-5x throughout the night. Within the past month or so he's started doing weird things in his sleep.
One night he woke up and crawled across the bed and just sat on the edge.
Another night he crawled over to the guard rail sat up on his knees and shook it repeatedly while screaming. I couldn't make him stop, he did it for about a min and then laid down and was sleeping.
The night before last he sat up and screamed while clawing at his scalp, this time he left scratch marks all over his head. Right after he laid down and was immediately asleep again

Anyone else's kids ever do things like this?

My son had night terrors for a while when he was 22-26 months. Sometimes he would appear completely awake and just act crazy... like once he chased me out of the room when I came to check on him and was just hitting me repeatedly.

Thankfully he seems to have grown out of them.

Every night, really? It scares me. My other kids sleep walk every now and nothing like this.

That's exactly how he is, he seems awake but he's obviously not.

That's good your son grew out of them, I hope mine will too.

Close to... it scares me too. It has taken an hour for him to wake up and realize what was going on.

I'm having similar issues with my 18 month old who had also never been a good sleeper. It's exhausting and so sad to see them like that. I hope it calms down soon.
