I know you have along way to go cause she's only in the beginning of her pregnancy, but I hope you keep in mind what things will be like after. I just had my son Tuesday afternoon and I did not realize what it would be like after! Idk what I would do with out my bf here by my side. He helps with just about everything! He helps me get out of bed, has helped me get to the bathroom when I feel like its hard to move, helps with changing and holding him and helps get him to sleep. The first night my son was born, he got up everytime he cried just so i could try to get some sleep. (You tend to be in the hospital for about 2-3 days.)

Idk what it would be like with out him here helping me out! So since you said you want to stay with her and be there for the baby, I hope you are there when she has the baby. And I hope you stay there with her! I'm sure that would mean the world to her, even more than you being there for the pregnancy! I'm sure she hasn't thought much about labor, or if she has/does she only thinks about labor itself and the pain. Not the before she gives birth(during active labor) or what it will be like after. I know I sure didn't and no one told me much of anything.

Just thought I would give you that heads up and I hope you decide to be there with her for the whole thing! That would most likely mean the world to her, especially since she's probably going to be scared.

thanks so much! congrats on having your baby to.

i actually never thought about any of that yet but i do plan to be there when she has the baby. it sounds like he gets to stay with you in the room? does the baby stay in the room with you so its like practice for when you are home with the baby?

i have so many questions about the whole process now. im gonna ask my gf if the doctor mentioned any classes we can take at the hospital like someone here said they took cuz i dont know anything. scares me so much to have to take care of a baby and not no anything.

There probably are classes that you can take, but not until she is about 30 weeks i think....I took a lamaze class and the last week of it they had a preparing for baby class. (i think all together it was about 4-5weeks)....I didn't have to pay for the class either because i was still considered at teen (even tho i was 19) and had the option of taking the teen class or adult. I chose the adult class, tho i probably would have bonded with the other moms had i taken the teen class. I loved that i took it, and it helped me to control alot of the pain.

I am pretty sure most hospitals offer classes of some sort, when you guys make a birth plan, be sure to ask the hospital to go in for a tour of the labor and delivery floor and make a list of questions to ask. Most people do this when they are 7 - 8 months along. Tours are generally free, too.

ok thats good to know. ill look at the hospital website and see what they have. i hope they have a teen class. i would feel better in a class with just teens.

thanks. i had to google what a birth plan is and found a sample. now i get it. ill just have to keep a list of all the questions as i think of them so i can ask the hospital.

Oh and along with classes, there are a ton of books geared towards dad's. I'll find you a few links:
I found these all on Amazon, they are for first time dads and they are not too expensive!

Thanks. Yeah they keep the baby in the room, well most hospitals do. They've done research showing its better to have the baby in the room with the parents. So that's what the hospitals around me do.

Its honestly over-whelming, but everyone says it gets easier over time. Its my first night home and I'm kind of freaking out. Cause idk what to do, he just seems to want to cry. He finally stopped and is sleeping now.

I didn't take classes. I took prenatal and parenting classes, but those didn't really show how to take care of a newborn. The parenting showed mostly toddlers and I think maybe a video on babies, but not much. And I didn't go to a birthing class either. But I know hospitals have them. You just have to ask the dr (her OB dr) or call the hospital and ask them about the classes
