Swollen Ear *Pic

posted 18th Nov
I swatted a mosquito away from her ear presumably after it bit her. Has this happened to anyone Else's child? Should I be worried. I am using the Benadryl Cream for bites.

She looks allergic. Keep using benedryl. My nephew is allergic to black fly bites and gets soooo swollen if he gets bit

I've been using it for about 4hrs now. Applied twice. Should I have seen a difference yet? Or give it more time? Thanks!

Have you tried oral Benadryl. That's better for fighting the hystemine release.

I would definitely give a dose of oral benadryl and hydrocortisone cream. DD gets bites really bad and the benadryl cream does nothing, but hydrocortisone helps a ton.

I'd ask a pharmacist. My nephew takes oral doses but it does take time for the swelling to go down

My pedi told me 2.5 ml of children's benadryl for my 1 year old and she's 17lbs. Does your bottle give any directions?

Any suggestion on how much?
She's 15 months and 27lbs. Or do you know how I could calculate how much?

THANKS everyone

I'd have to go get some. Should I look for anything in particular.

Any bottle I have read in stores is only 6 plus for age. and No weight chart. The pharmacist looked at me like I was a moron for even attempting to give my young child Benadryl.

I'm asuming you have the liquid, which should be 12.5mg/5ml (5ml is 1 teaspoon). So she would get 1tsp. You really can't OD on benadryl, so don't worry about that, and it is weight based, not age. I would give her 1tsp now, see if it helps, and you can give it every 4hrs or so without any consequences. It might make her sleepy though, that's normal. Other reaction is hyperness though, it's about 50/50 which reaction, if any, she would get.
